Google “bad stock photos” and you’ll get 11.1 million results. Tumblr and Reddit have pages upon pages dedicated solely to the hilarity of bad stock photos. And while, yes, it’s fun to laugh at those, it’s also really frustrating to scroll through them when it’s time to find a usable photo for your business, especially when you’re on a budget and a tight timeline.

We’re here to help with this handy little video guide. We’ll show you how to avoid the terrible stock photos, and we serve up some handy best practices for using them so that you aren’t stuck settling for low-quality stuff. For example, not all stock photos have the same use guidelines, so to be safe, you’ll want to use stock photos with a CC0 license.

When it comes to stock photos, a little time and effort will pay off if you know what to look for. Finding the right photo can enhance the look and feel of your website or entice someone to click on your ad.
