Ignition – How to Create an Engaging Podcast [VIDEO]

Created with Sketch.
Ellis Friedman

So your new content strategy includes starting a podcast. Don’t you wish you could get advice from a top podcaster on how to start a podcast the right way?

We spoke to John Lee Dumas, creator of Entrepreneur on Fire and overall podcast king, to get all his tested tactics and suggestions for creating a podcast.

The first thing to consider is the content: How are you going to make it stand out? In order to be different and fill a void to draw people in, you’ve got to find your unique selling proposition—that thing people can only get from you. Then, inject it full of your personality.

Then you’ll have to work on your podcasting strategy. Do you want the show to be based on interviews? Does it feature you speaking on a topic you’re an expert in that speaks to your audience’s pain points? Is it a Q&A-style show? Or is it all or a combination of those?

The most important thing? Dumas says it’s consistency, so you can get them excited for your next release.
