They say that small business owners have to wear a lot of hats.

Fine. That’s a glib way of stating that there’s a ton of work to be done, and you’re the person that has to see that it gets done.

If we need to use hats to describe how seriously busy you are and how intense the work is, then so be it. Let’s extend the metaphor. You could probably use a hat rack, right? That is, you can always benefit from new and better ways to keep organized, be more productive, and increase efficiency.

Whether you do your taxes yourself, or you hand the process over to your accountant, if you’re not organized on your end, you can risk a weaker submission either way. And that can cost you. The trick is to be organized. And keep your receipts. Always keep your receipts.
