Jim Hawthorn is the owner of Hawthorn Design & Landscape, an established Colorado-based landscaping company. He’s gradually moving the company from separate CRM, email marketing and e-commerce systems to Infusionsoft’s integrated, Web-based marketing automation system.

Jim launches a timed upsell campaign that invites customers who have purchased a new tree to prepay for a monthly maintenance program at a discounted rate. The campaign goal is to increase the average transaction amount, create a steady stream of recurring revenue and ensure the trees they sell are well-maintained—which leads to higher customer satisfaction.

Email Offer – Sent After Purchase

Jim uses Infusionsoft’s Drag & Drop Email Builder to create a follow-up email to send immediately to customers who have purchase a new Ponderosa pine. In the email, he includes his upsell offer: a discounted price on a monthly maintenance plan. The button and trackable link within the email enable him to see real-time click-through results in Infusionsoft.

Postcard Offer – Sent 1 Week After Purchase

To reinforce his offer, Jim uses Infusionsoft’s automated task assignment feature to send a follow-up postcard to anyone who has not yet purchased the maintenance plan. Infusionsoft automatically sends a reminder to his office manager to mail the postcard one week after the first email is sent.

Reminder Email – Sent 2 Weeks After Purchase

To boost sales, Jim creates another email that urges the customer to purchase the maintenance plan before the discount expires. He schedules the email to automatically deploy two weeks after the initial communication, eliminating the need to follow up with each customer manually.

Email Confirmation

Once a customer purchases the special offer, Jim sends a personalized confirmation email through Infusionsoft, thanking the customer and noting that his team will come by the next day to evaluate their maintenance needs.

Appointment Reminder Email

Jim uses Infusionsoft’s CRM to set the maintenance appointments. With automated triggers in place, Infusionsoft automatically deploys an appointment reminder email to the customer one week before his team is scheduled to come by.
