After several years of working the corporate grind, Cherise Washington caught the entrepreneurial bug and started her own financial planning business—Rainy Day Financial Planning.

Cherise’s business is growing steadily, and her customers are happy with the attention and service they receive from Rainy Day. Cherise wants to leverage this goodwill to gain some new leads by launching a referral program that offers a free consultation to friends of her customers, who would in turn receive a Visa gift card.

Direct Mail Letter

Using Infusionsoft’s Letter Creator, Cherise designs a direct mail letter to send to all of her clients after their annual financial review.

Infusionsoft’s marketing automation tools allow Cherise to trigger the letter fulfillment for the day after the client’s appointment. The system automatically sends a reminder to her assistant to print the personalized letter, pair it with a few preprinted vouchers and place it in the mail.

Email

As a savvy small business owner, Cherise knows that reaching her customers through multiple points will increase the chance for conversion. So Cherise also creates an email through Infusionsoft’s Drag & Drop Email Builder tool that is triggered to deploy the day after the customer’s annual review appointment. She includes a trackable link to download the voucher so she can see how many of her customers choose to share the coupon.


If you know you’ve been providing great products or services to your customers, don’t be afraid to ask them to refer you to their friends and colleagues. Happy customers tend to do so anyway, and others may be more motivated to refer if an incentive is thrown in.
